Mrs Parker’s Class (Year 3&4)

Welcome to Mrs Parker’s class (Year 3/4)

  • Teacher – Mrs Parker
  • Teaching Assistant – Mrs Butler

We are a mixture of Year 3 and Year 4 pupils, who will be given the opportunity to work as part of a team, in small groups and independently becoming positive role models for their peers. Year 3 are starting their first year in the Juniors.  We will be encouraging them to become independent learners who show resilience and try to be the best THEY can be whilst having fun! With support from Mrs Parker and Mrs Freer, the children will begin to become responsible for their own school equipment and we look forward to seeing their reading book and homework diary every day. Year 3 is the first time the children will go swimming with most children becoming confident swimmers after their sessions. Our first topic for this year will The Amazon.

Please note during autumn term, Year 4 children will be allocated a weekly swimming session (day to be confirmed) so they will require a swimming kit including a swimming hat and a towel. Boys must wear swimming trunks not swimming shorts and girls must wear a swimming costume and not a bikini. Goggles may be worn also.

PE

There will be two-hour PE lessons every week as well as a daily fitness session. At times,  there may well be additional sessions when external coaches are in school. Children are advised to bring in a PE kit on a Monday morning and to leave it in school for a half-term. The kit will then be returned home for cleaning. If you would prefer to wash it more regularly then please inform staff, who will send the kit home as and when requested by parents.

Please note no jewellery is allowed to be worn during PE for safety reasons and will need to be removed during PE and sporting activities.

PE Long Term Plan 2021-2022

Homework

At VLA, we operate an effective and consistent whole school approach to homework. Every child, from Year 1 – Year 6 is issued with their very own VLA Homework Book. Our Homework book will also be used as a reading diary and should be brought into school every day. The homework children receive in school will vary depending on the year group they are in.
